Under16/17s coach Dave Wood
Dave's coaching achievements led him to get the Rugby Football League "Coach of the Year" award in 2008. Also in that year Dave was voted Coach of the Year by readers of League Express and League Weekly.
This followed on from his achievement in coaching Gateshead Thunder to promotion to the Co-operative Championship in that year.
In 2006 Dave was assistant coach for the Fiji National side which made such an impact in the recent world cup and in 2005 Dave coached Castleford Tigers in the year they gained promotion to the Super League
Prior to coming to Britain Dave had wide experience of coaching in Australia taking charge club, university and representative sides. Of particular interest to us is that Dave was assistant coach to the New South Wales under 17 side in the State of Origins competition against Queensland.
Dave also has had wide playing experience including playing for Merryland Rams in the A Grade Parramatta Competition and Gosford Townies in the 1st Grade Central Coast Competition.
Dave has worked with many of the top grade coaches in Super League including current England coach Tony Smith, Brian Smith, Daniel Anderson and Mick Potter.
So when we recruited Dave to come and work with us you can see why we were so delighted.
